Goal Update 002

Progress has been slow. Like Matthew Perry, I have succumbed to a ravaging Fallout 3 addiction long after I thought I was done with the game. Thanks, Cormac McCarthy, you jerk, with your words and stuff makin’ me start playing video games. Something has to change. Like hiding the power cord of my PS3 in a very inconvenient place so that while I’ll obviously know where it is, I won’t be able to use it. Luckily my apartment is filled with spaces like this so this may be the best plan. If I can work up the mental fortitude to do so, that is. More detail on goals and my shorts phobia inside:
Otherwise, bass progress has been remarkably fluid, and Richard even brought his guitar over for impromptu jam sessions (I hate that phrase, but what else can I use?). This is good.
I’ve stalled out on Haruki Murakami, but will begin reading it again tonight. I’ve got my mother reading The Terror, but I don’t think she’s enjoying the bleakness much.
I’m working on a design project outside of work for the first time in a while, and this is exciting. Will have that wrapped up this week (positive reinforcement, saying it makes it happen).
Lulu project stalled due to addiction mentioned above.
Exercise has been less than constant. I may have never mentioned this to anyone before, but I have a phobia of wearing shorts. Specifically people laughing at me for wearing shorts. In winter it was easy to go to the gym under cover of dark and avoid the imaginary ridicule, but now it’s light until 8 or even later so anyone could (and does, in my overactive imagination) mock me for, what, having knees? I’m not sure what there is to be embarrased about. This is a mildly crippling phobia which tips the scales against working out even when I otherwise feel like it. Due to this bizarre psychological problem, I’m only working out about once a week. But it’s not getting any darker or colder soon, so I will have to man up and live with shorts.
So that’s the status report. Hopefully with some small lifestyle modifications I can get back on track in the near future.
